May means the start of another season of Alive@5—our favorite concert series on Carroll Creek! We love showing our support for Downtown Frederick Partnership by designing an event poster pro-bono each year and working with Frederick Book Arts Center to create a custom letterpress print.
The ask: The Parnership requested a polaroid photo and asked for illustrations of “funky, abstract” people inside of it that look like they are either musicians or just having a good time.
Our process: We embraced our client’s vision and brainstormed ways we could create a poster that felt alive with movement and energy and allow the letterpress process to shine. We chose colors within our client’s palette while also bringing in some vibrant, summery colors and bold visuals to further enhance the excitement of the concert series. Frederick Book Arts adjusted the inks so each of the three colors could interact with each other in a fun way.
